Wiser Training: Building on your knowledge

No matter how good the laser, success in laser dentistry rides on proper training, including hands-on clinical simulations. Working with Michael D. Swick, DMD, Helios training programs are evidence-based and comprehensive. Our educational programs, Online and Hands-on, are based on two core principles:

Laser-Tissue Interaction 
As laser energy is therapeutic at the cellular and molecular levels, the laser practitioner must understand the ways in which light interacts with intraoral tissue components. Helios training starts from the practitioner’s basic formation in basic cell biology. We teach the laser practitioner to ask: What is the diseased tissue biotype? Which condition does it have? How best can I use the laser to improve the condition? With the proper answer, Helios Tissue Optimized Pulsing can be dialed in. Dr. Swick’s training includes the emerging laser-assisted perio protocols to arrest and control periodontal biofilm infection.

Applications Strategy 
To succeed in soft tissue management, laser practitioners need a thorough applications strategy. In addition to clinical matters, applications must also broach practice management and profit. Helios Initial Certification covers staff training and patient education, billing and insurance coding, and ethics and malpractice issues. With the Wiser applications strategy, practitioners learn the basic management tools with which to advance the dental practice.
